Why I made this
Before my stroke I loved playing first-person games, where finding the movement keys without thinking was a familiar part of play. Afterwards, I could know which key I wanted but still press a neighbouring one, and those simple mistakes made games frustrating.
Changing the controls or avoiding those games would have been easy, but I wanted a pressure-free place to practise the familiar movements that had once felt automatic. This activity removes enemies, teammates and time pressure so the movement keys can be the whole task.
What this lets you practise: keyboard position, movement-key recall and correcting common mix-ups. Choose WASD, IJKL or the arrow keys for the left side, right side or whichever layout works for you.
WASD sits on the left side of most keyboards; IJKL and the arrow keys sit further right. Use one hand, both hands, switch sides, or choose whichever layout and position feels most comfortable today.
Your layout and statistics stay in this browser. Reset stats clears this layout’s counters.
