Resources

Trusted places to learn more

Movement Lab is based on lived experience, not clinical authority. These UK resources are useful starting points, but advice from your own medical and rehabilitation team should always come first.

Official guidance for stroke rehabilitation in adults, including recommendations concerning repetitive, task-specific practice and upper-limb rehabilitation.

Stroke Association

Speak with your rehabilitation team

An occupational therapist, physiotherapist, rehabilitation doctor or GP can help you decide which activities are appropriate and how much practice is suitable for you.

Practise safely

Use short sessions, take breaks and avoid pushing through pain or severe fatigue. Stop and seek medical advice if an activity causes concerning or unusual symptoms.

Possible stroke symptoms are an emergency

Sudden facial weakness, arm weakness or speech difficulty can be signs of a stroke. In the UK, call 999 immediately rather than using this website for guidance.
